Choose "Pay in person or Zelle" at checkout. In this class, participants will learn different bargello needlepoint patterns and the basic concepts of data collection, visualization, and storytelling. Students will initially create a set of coasters using different patterns, and from there, students can choose to work on placemats, tissue box covers, tote bags, small wallets, eyeglass cases and many other useful products! Students will learn: - The difference between plastic canvas and needlepoint canvas - What mesh size is and how that plays a part in both the yarn you use and your final product - How to build a stitching pattern library - How to finish & construct your final products - What data is and how to infuse your data into your stitching There are two projects with this course: A coaster set and a notebook cover About the instructor: Bonnie Natko was surrounded by fiber arts and textiles from a young age, but oddly didn’t start her stitching journey until three years ago, when everything just clicked. Since then, she has developed an ever-evolving stitching practice that includes embroidery, bargello, needlepoint, and weaving. In her work, Bonnie likes to infuse high-tech concepts with hand-crafted work, and is a true proponent of experiential learning. In 2022, she created Data Stitching, which is a way to learn data visualization through bargello needlepoint and has presented at the Hudson Valley Maker Faire and will also be presenting at the Coney Island Maker Faire this October.
